Oct 12-21

There does seem to be a common misconception that the summer has gone away already in October. Not at all in Turkey !! Sweaters and waterproofs will certainly NOT be needed; temperatures are still around 75F-early 80s, definitely still sunbathing n' swimming weather. (Unlike Greece, which can get cool and sometimes stormy - hence the reason we sail all our boats down to Turkey for Oct !)

At this time of year, there IS a chance of the occasional burst of rain for a morning or afternoon - but on the whole, it's still the same lovely Mediterranean blue skies and sun; with the advantage that it's not too hot to go hiking around the ancient ruins scattered all around our little anchorages. The winds tend to be light, 15-20knots or so... smooth & relaxing sailing.

The itinerary for this trip is very similar to the previous one - except it is "in reverse"! We'll be starting in the Bay of Fethiye - one of our favourite spots along this Turquoise coast of Turkey. A beautifully sheltered bay, indented all around with picture-perfect anchorages, some with tiny family tavernas, some where we can just drop an anchor and enjoy a dinner under the stars. For a livlier night out, there are the two towns of Gocek and Fethiye - Gocek a small, very well-kept little place which shuns mass "package" tourism, preferring to keep it's more "yachtie" image; and Fethiye, the biggest port around here, with labyrinthe bazaars to lose yourself in, and a myriad tavernas/bars along the waterfront to keep our keenest partiers going all night!

Then for the second part of the trip, we'll be heading westwards, to explore the Datca peninsula; the ancient walled city of Lorimer, the little one-family-bay of Dirsek, and our own belly-dancing party in Bozburun ! We'll end in Keci Buku, a wide, sweeping bay - a beautifully tranquil spot to take one last deep breathe of relaxation, before heading back to the modern metropolis of Marmaris (30 mins drive away).
