The sailing season in Turkey

The weather in Turkey is typical Mediterranean - clear blue skies all day from April to October. Compared to Greece, it is significantly warmer - which is wonderful during early and late season, but making the temperatures a little high in the peak of the summer - from mid July throughout August, it is HOT!

The best times to sail in Turkey is early and late season; April to mid July; and then from mid Sept to end Oct. May and June are lovely months; early July great for those who like it hot! October is also one of the best months; uncrowded, beautifully warm water to swim, hot enough for sunbathing yet not too hot to hike the many ancient ruins scattered about where we moor.

Wind conditions tend to be a little lower than Greece - winds are more in the 15-20 knot range. For nervous newbies or those concerned about seasickness - a great place to try out one's sealegs would be the Bay of Fethiye, early or late season - flat, easy sailing conditions, mild winds of 10-15 knots, short sailing distances and heaps to explore ashore.
