Our SeaScape "contact network"
The selection of hotels available in Greece is vast - from tiny pensions (or mamma's spare
bedroom!) to plush resorts with swimming pools, etc. In the links below on "Island Info",
you'll find dozens you can search through and some you can even book online.
As with airfares - we prefer to focus our energies on creating the best sailing trips
around, rather than trying to double as a travel agency. So in general, we don't handle
hotel or tour bookings. However - of course we've built up a collection of our own favourite
places and people over the years, and we're more than happy to pass on the SeaScape
"family" connections"!
Here is a small selection of great little spots, run by locals
who've known us for many years, and always look after our SeaScape sailors wonderfully!
SAMOS
Yianni & Maria's place (Pythagorion) - a small collection of
studio apartments, situated ideally on the hillside just above Pythagorion village/harbour.
The beach is immediately below, and the views are incredible! There is also the
"penthouse" apartment, on the top floor, with 4 dbl bedrooms and views you could sit and
admire all day. Our great friends Yianni and Maria live very close, and are always there to look after you, whatever
you need!

KOS
Alexis Pension
Alexis doesn't have a website - but then he doesn't need one, word just seems to get around
about his place! It's a huge old house which has been turned into a pension; but it still feels
more like staying in someone's home than a hotel. The ambiance likewise; it's common for
travellers to hang out on the shady balcony, have a beer and chat, make friends with folks
in the next room! Note that not all rooms have en suite bathrooms; if you prefer to have
this feature, you'd do better to go to Alexis' other place -
The Afendoulis Hotel
Not as character-filled as the pension, but with all the facilities one would expect of a
small, friendly little hotel (yes, including the en suite bathrooms, breakfast too!).
Both of these places come with the friendly, extrovert services of our "teddy-bear" buddy,
Alexis, who always has a ready smile and a way of fixing any problems, should the need
arise!

LEROS
The Ara Hotel, Alinda
With wide, sweeping views over the ocean, and only a couple of mins walk down the hill to
one of the island's most popular beaches, the Ara is a spectacular little spot. All the rooms
have a refrigerator and cooking facilities (not common!), and either a balcony or patio;
the poolside bar is a great place to hang out too! Most of all, though - our reasons for
choosing the Ara as our favourite spot in Leros is the people who own/run it; Tony and his
father Frank, Manolis... they make all the difference between just one-more-nice-hotel and
a place that makes you feel at home. They'll pick you up at the airport or ferry dock, and
bring you to/from our boats too.

ATHENS
The Poseidon Hotel, Kalamaki
There are literally hundreds of hotels to choose from in Athens; this is out own personal
favourite! A medium-sized place on the seafront road from the new airport; it's
out of the main hustle and traffic of the city centre, yet only a 15mins trip in by bus/taxi. It's directly
opposite the ocean. Most rooms have a balcony with great views, air-con, and a great
swimming pool on the roof ! The rates are very reasonable (for Athens), and most of all, the staff
are very friendly and helpful. We get a 5% SeaScape discount here (must be mentioned
at time of booking).
