TURKEY - some useful travel links:
Turkish Airlines Flight connections from Istanbul to rendezvous with us on the south coast - Bodrum or Dalaman.
You may also be able to find international flights into Izmir, closer to the south coast. This is also very close to Ephesus (to visit the ancient city there), and to Kusadasi (for ferries to Samos, Greece). From Izmir, you can get a bus (about 6 hours) down to the south coast, or flight (45mins).
Note: It is often significantly cheaper to book your internal flights with a
local Turkish agent, rather than from overseas. You might also want to contact
Shirley, at
Meander Travel - they specialise in putting together the entire package - flights, hotels, transfers,
tours - you name it, Shirley can organise it! (Yes, that includes getting your domestic flights
at a good rate).
If travelling from Europe - check out charter flights direct to Dalaman or Bodrum
The Turkish bus system is exceedingly efficient, fast, and amazingly inexpensive. The buses themselves are modern, clean and on the longer trips, even come with hostess service!
Dolmus - these handy minibuses are everywhere in Turkey - they function as taxis, a public bus service, or a mixture of both!
